At the age of 12 I sadly lost my father to suicide. Going through university and employment, I decided to hide my true life from everyone that I met. I created a fake version of myself, which meant that I never had to tell anyone the truth. This destructive cycle continued for over a decade.
It wasn’t until I was intercepted by a charity campaign by Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), whilst at the same time as joining a new employer, that I slowly started to share my story, and then I started to realise the impact that this could have on those around.
This single moment kick-started a chain of events that led to me becoming fixated on the potential impact that the workplace could have in supporting the wellbeing of its employees.
